I worked with oils on a 8" x 10" canvas panel. I was experimenting with light,  warm and cool color scheme. Working on another light and shadow painting simultaneously.  Experiments are good to learn and develop more knowledge in any field I believe.  I treat my self as a learner every day.   Please visit my web site for more paintings http://www.usha-arts.com

Portrait Painting by Usha

Image
This is my first painting after I reached India. The President of GITAM University, an eminent personality here in Visakhapatnam. I take pride in working on his painting. Took me time to get used to the weather. Oil painting on 20" x 34" artist canvas. Lot of deatils in the background. I did not want to take out any of the items seen in the picture, and ended up painting every detail as it is. I also started a new blog to show all my works I will display here. http://abstractsinvizag.blogspot.com/

Unfortunately I couldn't get the correct colors!  Correct colors, sorry for the flash! Christ before the high priest. A study of great masters work,   Gerrit Van Honthorst. I am so pleased with this painting.  Contact me for details.

Working on this portrait for some time. A full size 24"x 48" canvas.  Still not completed, before I start working on this today,  I took a picture of what I have done so far. I have to see how far I can progress.  I have nothing new to post today. So the unfinished one become my post for the day.

Portrait . Work in progress A big size portrait I am working on on a 24" x  48"  I wanted to simplify and make the portraits look more painterly than too realistic.

Portrait of John and Liz

Image
After playing with the back ground, changing it couple of times, I am finally  happy with this back ground.  It has been also difficult to get a correct tone picture since it has a lot of blues. So I have to get pictures with 2 different cameras, to compare.  The skin tones are little different still than in the painting, but, I think  these are the best I can capture.  Thanks for looking! Appreciate your comments.

Portrait on Porcelain Tile "My Daughter"

Image
A portrait I did some time ago on 8" x 10" porcelain tile, with several kiln firings  to make the colors permanent.  Won best of the show award and was displayed in  a Gallery for a year.  Yes! It is my daughter!

Update on portrait

Image
Just a little digital camera color variation, but softened the background. I am happy with this .

John and Liz Portrait

Image
As I took 3 days off from work, I found some time to work on this portrait commission. This is just a part of  painting I am working on. I love the way she turned out!  I was able to capture the bright day lighting on her. Most of the commissions I did are indoor portraits. I am enjoying working on this one all in bright day light! The background still needs to be done and I am going to work on him today.
